Coaches Play Softball! CYA vs SYA Charity Slugfest | The SidelineSeason 1 · Episode 48With only days to go, the first annual Summer Slugfest is fast approaching! It is a day of fun and community where the story of the long-standing, but cordial, rivalry between CYA and SYA continues and promises nothing but an entertaining time out on the diamond. While the main event is probably the most casual softball game you may attend in your lifetime, the meaning and purpose run deeper than meets the eye.
The 2026 Slugfest is backed by the community in partnership with the Friends of EC Lawrence Park to raise funds to support our local parks, support youth athletes on and off the field, and above all, foster a sense of unity, community, and growth that we strongly value at both CYA and SYA.
What makes this event so exciting are the side attractions. Not only do we have Kaziville catering to attendees straight from their amazing food truck, but we are also showing the sweltering summer heat who is boss with Kona Ice on-site to keep us all cool and hydrated with their famous assortment of shaved ice and frozen treats. Plus, We will be broadcasting live right from behind home plate to capture all the action, the play-by-play, and the friendly trash talk!
This event is open to all and makes for a fun day out with friends and family. So do not hesitate to bring a friend, or two, or three, or four, or five (you get the idea). We cannot wait to see you out there. Stop by any of the stands set up on the day of the event to participate in our giveaways and raffles or to make a donation of any size to support the cause.
Oh, and before we forget, the event is taking place on July 25th from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Eleanor C. Lawrence Park athletic fields right here in Chantilly. We should be easy to spot that day. Just follow the music and party sounds, and that will be us! See you out there! And if you are open to it, go ahead and sign up to play for Team CYA if you want to be on the winning team, or Team SYA who needs all the help they can get. (Yes, we are a little biased, and that is okay!)
